WORKSHOPS & CLASSES
Meet the people and brands who are offering our film community a rare opportunity for free education and insight into practices and trends that are shaping the film lighting industry today. Hands-on classes and labs will have you leaving the event motivated and inspired!
Join us for a hands on workshop with Cinematographer Oren Soffer as he shares some of his approaches to lighting locations in New York City. Oren, along with Gaffer Ronnie Bhardwaj, will direct the class as they setup and light a scene in a common NYC location and share some of their tricks to tackling the unique challenges faced by filmmakers when shooting in tight urban locations.
Looking to take your production efficiency to the next level? Wireless is the way to go! Ratpac Controls offers a variety of wireless DMX products that allow you to control your lighting fixtures from a tablet or smartphone and we want to show you how to use them. CRMX wireless technology has revolutionized the FILM/TV lighting industry, and Ratpac pioneered this technology. Ratpac Controls; AKS Plus, Satellite, and Cintenna 2 wireless DMX products have become the top choice of Film and Television production crews because of their quality and reliablility. AKS Plus, Satellite, and Cintenna 2s allow you to control popular LED fixtures wirelessly such as the ARRI SkyPanel, Litegear Litepanels, Creamsource Vortex8, Astera Hyperion, and Quasar Double Rainbow tubes from your mobile device. This eliminates the need for cumbersome DMX cable runs and saves production time so you can shoot more in less time. In this one-hour hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to set up your own wireless DMX signal flow using Ratpac's AKS Plus, Satellite, and Cintenna 2 products. You will also learn how to troubleshoot common issues that can arise on set. This class is a must for anyone looking to understand the basics of wireless lighting control.
International Sales Manager Sean Dane will present the Next Generation of Wireless DMX products from LumenRadio. Get up to speed on how Stardust, Aurora, and Luna will improve your workflow and add functionality to you on-set wireless experience. Additionally, learn basic tips and trick for managing frequencies, antenna choices, common signal attenuators, and multiple stage setups. Bring all your questions in order to optimize your setups for today and into the future.
Join our skills master class on Soldering and LED Fabrication. This workshop is a hands-on instructional workshop to teach soldering techniques and skill sets that are needed in motion picture and theater. We’ll be discussing new technologies that lead to a smart, more efficient, and scalable set as they relate to lighting and art department needs. Come see the latest in technology and have an exclusive opportunity to meet with Mike Visencio (The MBS Group: SVP, Technology and Innovation).
